Seamix is an officially approved formula for creating artificial/synthetic seawater. The five principal five constituent salts required –Sodium Chloride, Magnesium Sulphate, Magnesium Chloride, Calcium Chloride and Potassium Chloride - were already present on our premises. It is especially popular in lobster and crab holding tanks, oyster production, bi-valve mollusc purification tanks and where natural seawater is in short supply (due to distance) or is of compromised quality, usually through the presence of algae.

Seamix users - fishmongers, restaurants, aquaculture practitioners, research institutions, etc - state a range of advantages to using Seamix-

(a) The seawater created is clean, healthy and free from contamination. Natural seawater can contain a range of detritus, pollutants and water-borne organisms which are harmful to aquatic life. No such threat exists when using Seamix

(b) The thorough mixing process prior to packaging ensures homogeneity throughout each bag. Where only a portion of a bag is required at any one time, the remainder can be kept until required with confidence that the seawater mix produced thereafter will be to the same constituency as before (the product will harden with prolonged contact to air but still remain perfectly soluble, albeit with a bit more effort).

(c) Where premises are far from sources of natural seawater, Seamix is more cost-effective and practical than transporting liquid over long distances.

(d) The 25Kg and 15Kg bag sizes make for ease of handling and easy storage

(e) The reduced need for pumping seawater into installations reduces corrosion of machinery as Seamix is produced in a controlled environment.

Seamix is a reliable and easy product to use in the creation of artificial/synthetic seawater. At the time of writing, sales volumes for the first 6 months of 2015 are 37% higher than in the corresponding period last year. Its longevity as a product, high levels of repeat customer purchase and continued growth is testament to the suitability of Seamix as a substitute for natural seawater.

Deliveries can be made anywhere in the UK and overseas.

Future developments

Although currently supplied in granular form, we have also produced a Seamix concentrate which, at 14%, would be supplied neat and diluted to suit requirements. More details to follow at a later date.
