Meet The Team - Otto Jonas
Next in our August addition of Meet the Team we have Otto Jonas, our IT Systems Administrator. Walking past Otto’s monitors usually feels like we’ve taken a wrong turn from the water cooler and slipped into The Matrix; with cascading code as far as the eye can see, he’s always working on something exciting – even if we have no idea how he does it.
A lover of all things water, Otto is also a keen sailor and wakeboarder and enjoys spending time out on the waves. When he’s not out at sea, you’ll find him on tarmac, driving cars and racing go-karts as cars are his other great love. He describes himself as an ‘adrenaline junkie’ and loves anything that gives him a thrill.
When he’s sitting still, Otto enjoys completing personal computing projects as a keen programmer. Notably he made a modern-day jukebox a clever piece of kit we think is seriously impressive. From a young age, Otto has had a fascination with computers – breaking things apart and putting them back together was always a favourite pastime.
Otto sat down with us to tell us more about his journey to Peacock Salt and find out about his life inside and outside the office.
Otto’s Role
Otto joined us in the office as our IT Systems Administrator 7 months ago bringing with him his ideas and tech talents to help streamline our processes. His first project was to create what he calls “PeacockGPT” an internal chatbot made to help new employees with training and troubleshooting. However, Otto isn’t really new to Peacock Salt at all. He is our Managing Director’s nephew, making him the 6th generation of this ‘little’ family business.
If Otto wasn’t at Peacock salt…
Growing up, Otto went through several car-related career phases. He once dreamt of being a taxi driver (though he’s not quite sure why) and later aspired to race in motorsports – whether it was Formula 1 or NASCAR, he just wanted to go fast. Clearly, that need for speed started early!
Advice for his younger self
Otto has no advice for his younger self other than maybe turning the light on when he used to use his computer as it might have avoided him needing glasses now. His proudest moment so far is joining the company his family have owned for generations and being the 6th generation to carry the Peacock Salt legacy forward.
Life Outside of Peacock Salt
When he’s not throwing himself off or out of something, making waves or burning rubber on the racetrack, Otto enjoys travelling and seeing new places. His favourites so far are Mauritius and Greece, one day he’d love to see Japan.

Thank you Otto for sitting down with us and letting us get to know you more, it was a pleasure.
