Next up in our Meet the Team series is one of Peacock Salt’s newest recruits — Darren Galloway! Darren joined us in June 2025 as our Business Development Manager, which, in his words, is a “big title for ‘helping solve winter woes.’” Having been both a customer and a supplier of Peacock Salt over the past 13 years, he already knew us inside out before making the leap to join the team.

You’ll find Darren in the office with a smile on his face and a joke ready for anyone passing by. Outside of work, you'll find Darren… outside — as he’s happiest when paddleboarding, cycling, kayaking, or walking. When he’s not exploring nature, he’s exploring new cuisines — a self-confessed foodie “slowly eating my way around Europe and beyond.”

Darren’s Role

Darren works with our winter distributors and local authorities to help them supply their customers and keep the public on the roads during winter.With over a decade of experience in B2B relationships, he brings invaluable insight into customer collaboration and process improvement. Since joining Peacock Salt, Darren’s enthusiasm and problem-solving mindset have already had a huge impact on the team.

If Darren wasn’t at Peacock Salt, he’d be…

“Finding mischief somewhere interesting! If I can’t learn anything new in a day, I’ll find a way to get into trouble!” Luckily, with 14,000 known uses for salt, Darren will be learning something new every day for the foreseeable future.

A piece of advice for Darren’s younger self

“Take the leap on something new. I moved from an industry where I was comfortable and ‘safe.’ Now, at Peacock, and reflecting on my previous experiences, I can honestly say I’ve never been happier.”

Darren says he’s proudest of the relationships and knowledge he’s gained throughout his working life. “No one person has all the answers, but collaboration can work wonders for an industry.”

Life Outside of Peacock Salt

When he’s not working or outdoors, Darren describes himself as a bit of a bibliophile (a lover of books). He’s an avid podcast and audiobook listener, with over 300 titles in his Audible library! His favourite listen so far has been The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings series — he grew up with them and says they’re a repeat listen (or read) every year. He also has a wealth of random knowledge and facts, often topping the table in the Peacock Salt Friday Quiz. “Getting me to stop chatting is the real challenge,” he jokes.
