Meet the Team: Scott of all Trades
For this month’s Meet the Team we sat down with Scott Hayes, though tracking him down was no easy feat. He’s a man in demand. A skilled tradesman, Scott is a passionate DIY enthusiast and always juggling projects in and out of work. Whether it’s plastering, joinery, roofing, plumbing, electrics or production he gets the job done. With a love of classic cars, when he’s not driving down the coast with the wind in his…convertible, he’s away camping in his self-converted van. Probably all whilst listening to K T Tunstall. Ask him about his tattoo!
Scott’s Role at Peacock Salt
Scott first joined Peacock Salt in 2009 as a winter temp, helping with our Winter Wizard product. Since then, he hasn’t looked back. In fact, it’s easier to list the jobs he hasn’t done in the warehouse. From building spreaders and driving forklifts to working the night shift and running the mixing line, Scott has done it all. He’s our jack of all trades—and we’re lucky to have him.
Now working as our Salthouse & Peppermongers Warehouse Supervisor, Scott’s role varies by the day. You might find him mixing custom blends, packing orders, or hunting down elusive machine parts. No two days are the same and that’s just how he likes it.
If Scott Wasn’t at Peacock Salt...
Cars. Always cars. Scott’s second great love after salt is classic cars. He talks about them, dreams about them, and could probably rebuild one with his eyes closed. His dream job? Restoring classic cars in America. Someone’s clearly watched loads of episodes of Wheeler Dealers. The car at the top of his restoration wish list, a Ford Brooklands Capri from the 1980s.
Advice for his younger self
Scott lives life with few regrets, but if he could give his younger self a bit of advice, it would be this: “Stick at things, save your money, and take care of yourself.”
He’s proud of many things, but two stand out: seeing his nephew Cameron join the company, and rowing from Arran to Ayr with the Peacock Salt team in 2015 for charity.
Life Outside the Warehouse
Scott is the driving force behind the weekly 5-a-side football matches at work. But his love for sport doesn’t stop there he’s a dedicated football fan and an even more passionate Formula 1 follower. Challenge him on Lewis Hamilton’s greatness at your own risk, he’s ready to debate.
Beyond sport, Scott enjoys discovering new places, with Switzerland and Austria high on his travel list. A lover of live music, he also plays the guitar though he cheekily insists he’s “pretty good,” but I’ll let you be the judge of that.

Family. Brilliant. An experience.
Thanks to Scott for making time for this chat no small feat given his busy schedule!
